A single paragraph signed on 11 November 1620 aboard the Mayflower, anchored off Cape Cod, by forty-one of the men on board. Having landed outside the territory of their Virginia patent, the settlers, Separatists and others together, covenanted in the presence of God and one another to combine into a civil body politic and to enact and obey just and equal laws for the general good of the colony. The original is lost; the text is known from Bradford's history of the Plymouth plantation.
