A letter written from Ephesus by Paul to the church he had founded in Corinth a few years before, answering reports of factions and a letter of questions. He rebukes divisions among followers of himself, Apollos and Cephas, addresses a case of incest, lawsuits between believers, marriage and celibacy, food offered to idols, the conduct of the Lord's supper and of worship, and the spiritual gifts, ranking love above prophecy and tongues in chapter 13. Chapter 15 argues at length for the resurrection of the dead from the resurrection of Christ.
