PollinRobert Pollin is an economist at the University of Massachusetts Amherst and co-director of its Political Economy Research Institute, who has advised governments and unions on green investment and the transition from fossil fuels. De-Growth vs. a Green New Deal, in New Left Review in 2018, argues that shrinking the economy cannot cut emissions fast enough and would impose its costs on the poor, and that a large programme of public investment in clean energy can decarbonise while growing. Burton and Somerville answered it, and the newest lists assign the two essays together as the argument about how the climate is to be met.
